Derrick is a versatile performer who works regularly as a host, voice over artist and actor. Before making the full-time transition to working in front of the camera and on the mic, Derrick worked behind the camera, producing, filming and editing various projects for film, TV and corporate clients in Australia with Onion Media Group.
Since June 2009, Derrick has acted in over 12 short films including “The 25th of Laura” a Finalist in the Singapore International Film Festival, “Cut” Runner Up at the 48 Hr Film Project (Singapore), and the award winning “The Seer” for this year’s 48hr Film Project (2012). He hosted 2 Documentaries for Discovery Taiwan which came runner-up for Best Documentary Series at the 2011 Asian Television Awards. In 2011 he also hosted “Find Me A Cure” a TV Series looking at alternative and traditional medicine which reruns regularly across the South East Asian region on Channel News Asia. Most Recently he held a stint as a Radio DJ for Safra Radio’s Power 98FM on Lunch with Dr D.
In between filming projects and doing radio, Derrick has hosted many corporate events and roadshows for companies like SingTel, Singapore Exchange, Samsung, Software AG, IMG, The People’s Association, M1, Ben & Jerry’s and Far East Organisation, as well as Sales Training and Corporate Videos for Sony and Standard Chartered Bank. He also has assisted with corporate training programs acting in teaching videos, as well as live role plays for companies and organisations like PETRONAS, BP and INSEAD.
Since 2011, Derrick has also been in demand as a Voice Over Artist, having appeared in numerous Radio and TV Ads representing a range of companies including BMW, Citroen, Caltex, Energizer, Property Groups, OCBC, Dulux, MINDEF, Shopping Centres and McDonald’s and Nikon. He has also been used for many corporate videos.
Besides pursuing his own projects he also founded and organised LAUNCH – Singapore’s Premier Networking Event for the Film, TV And Media Industry bringing creatives together and creating more opportunities for collaboration on future creative ventures. He recently founded a Parkour Freerunning Academy & Agency – Superfly Monkey Dragons and partnered with Singapore’s First Parkour Facility to run their Parkour training.
